Airborne Laser Irradiance & Emission Node (ALIEN) Capability

The ALIEN 2K target was designed for integration aboard a large UAS to serve as a representative airborne target or ground target.

The ALIEN 2K target has 2,020 sensors with a 5.2 mm & 10.4 mm pitch.

There are two additional design iterations of ALIEN targets in development:

The ALIEN 3K target with over 3,000 sensors with 2.6 mm, 5.2 mm, and 10.4 mm pitches

The ALIEN 6K target with over 6,000 sensors with a 5.7 mm pitch throughout the target.

The ALIEN target board pod payload also has a Silvus SC-4240 radio integrated to allow for the transmission of data to a Silvus SC-4480 radio used as a ground radio to pass testing data to the test team in near real-time. The ALIEN also supports GPS information for target positioning.
